Play: Passion

This is my second experience with play after two years. This time I expect more from the play that we are going to watch, but sadly my expectation is not as I expected. Compared to the last play that I have watched in the first year, this play 'Passion', was a totally different kind of play that really makes me wanted to get out if the theatre as quick as possible. Wit only a few lines of dialogue and depended most of the time with dancing, I am really disappointed. I expect it to be more like the previous play that I have watched because it really opened my eyes in terms of characterization. This time, the play 'Passion' was just like a dancing show than a play. I knew, this was a theatre musical, but I think they should use more dialogue than just dancing and muteness. However, if we look it from the bright side, I think this play was like another way of presenting the play through dances. Besides, it was also another experience to me in watching play. I hope, I will be watching more plays in the future except this kind of play.

Simulated Teaching: How we are evaluating others?

In the session of simulated teaching, I will evaluate in the way the teachers present at the front of the class in terms of appearance, voice projection, grammar, and confidence. First, I will look at the appearance of the teachers because first impression will affect the whole teaching process. If the teachers well-dressed, it will indirectly attract the students to listen to the teachers. Next, I will look at how the voice projection be produced. A loud and clear voice is needed in order to make a better teaching process. Then, teachers should not do any grammatical errors while teaching because as teachers we must have a good proficiency. Next, I will look at the activities provided to the students, is it cater the students' level? Is it appropriate and how it is done? These are few elements that need to be stressed in doing activities. Finally, I will evaluate on the confidence of the teacher, because teachers must have confidence in what they are teaching. It is because if they do not have confidence, how are they going to teach the students.
After all, this evaluation session is good for us to know our flaws and strength for later use when we enter the profession world as teachers.

Simulated Teaching: What do you feel when your friends evaluate you?

This is my second time doing simulated teaching and yet i am still not able to confront others and make it normal. Still, I need to pull myself together because it is for the good sake of my future. But, this time, I noticed that I have improved than the last time because I am prepared this time. My partner; Jumi also played an important role in helping me in the simulated teaching.
In my opinion, I think that this evaluating process is good for us the future teacher. When I distribute the evaluating forms to my friends, I only can hope for the best feedback from them. I also can just pray to God that I will do less mistakes and everyone o them can understand my teaching. Furthermore, I hope I can also do better than the last time around.
During the simulated teaching, I have divided our jobs and I did the Set Induction and Pre-reading stages and thank God I have done it and I am relieved. I also think that, this evaluating thing is good for me and all of us the future teacher because we can know all of the flaws and strength in our teaching. Thus, we can make it as a lesson for our future teaching.

As You Like It

As You Like It is a movie that talks about true love and I found that it is interesting. It is also can teach us how to be more appropriate in love and be more sensitive in love. As represented in the movie, we can see that the main characters Orlando and Rosalind have to pass all of the obstacles before they can be together. Another interesting facts about the story is the way they express their love is through poems. Besides, it makes me amazed about how they managed to communicate in the past where no communication technology is invented. I also think that we can learn something new after watching the movie and it is one of the good examples of true love because it ends with they get married.
Overall, the movie is fun, entertaining, and educational to us.

A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire is really beneficial to me for the second assignment because it explains all of the things that I did not understand from just reading the play. The movie adapted most of the gist that we; audience need to know from the play. Besides that, the way the characters presented in the movie really caters all the characteristics from the play that Tennessee Williams wanted to present. The character of Blanche DuBois really well delivered and she is the most important character that faced all of the miseries and she is the one who experienced the reverse of fortune. She is also hunger for man and true love. It shows that, she is a tragic figure and I feel sympathy for her. Another character that played important role is Stanley Kowalski who is acted like a good person but actually he has an animalistic behavior that will create problems to the protagonist; Blanche. Since he is a lower class people, he presented the way that these kind of people always live for fun.
Overall, this movie is really beneficial to us as the students of EDU3217

Pygmalion

After I watched the movie, I found that the movie is like a fairy tale because the theme is trying to change someone according to someone's desire. Since it is like a fairy tale, I think the movie is interesting because it makes us think that one can change if we want to and put a full effort to change. For example, in the movie the heroine, Eliza can change for the sake of her love. However, the one he loves did not notice that Eliza loves him and he just notices it later at the end of the movie. It also shows that the love can evolved if we tried hard and always remember that, sometimes love is just right in front of us and we must be aware of it.

Macbeth

In my opinion, Macbeth is a really good movie to watch because it represents the theme of power can turn someone good to a bad one. Besides that, the use of oracle is similar to the play of Oedipus the King. The oracle plays a big role in the movie because it can be the only way to make the movie well developed. The oracle is important because Macbeth died because of the oracle that he believes so much. Besides that, the movie is also well adapted from the play itself written by William Shakespeare. Even though the movie is quite violent, but the way it presented is good and delivered well to the audiences.
The theme of greed is presented well and I agree that, people will tend to change when we are consumed by the lust and greed for power. Overall, the movie is good to watch and for the learning.

Reflection on Shakespeare's Wallah

After I watched the movie of Shakespeare's Wallah, I felt that the movie is quite confusing in terms of the way it represented its characters. The characters did not well developed and did not being exploited very well. The actors and actresses can be improved in the skills of their acting. The main actor is a famous actor in Bollywood and should be able to express love better than the other actors and actresses but it did not happen. Besides that, the ending of the story is not being told clearly. As I left the hall, I still wondering what happen to the main actor's love towards his lover. Is it a good sign or it is just only a fake love? Overall, the movie is not that good and the presentation is not well evolved by the director.

Human

‘The four ages of man’ by William Butler Yeats, ‘Macbeth’ and ‘As you like it’ by William Shakespeare and ‘Oedipus (Sphinx riddle)’ by Sophocles are pieces of literary works by great poet and playwright. These literary works talk about human’s cycle of life.

In my opinion, I like ‘The four ages of man’ more because the poet makes us think how a human is born until the day his life is taken by God; or die. In the poem, it tells about the true nature of human who will have lives and breathe, then struggle for their own future and finally died. The poem also describes how human’s arrogant and proud will lead how they are going to die whether in despair or honour. Besides that, we know that no human can go against the will of God and it is best for us to be grateful with everything that we have and always strive for the best.

Chance to perform

If I got a chance to do a performance, I will take consideration everything that is required for my play. It is important to have a good actors and actresses to do the performance because the play must be delivered y people who can present the play’s intentions to the audience. Besides that, stage position and decorations or setting is also an important element to attract the audience to watch the play. In addition, to have a good performance; the play must have a good story line and script must be strong and effective because without a good storyline, the play will be dull and boring. Moreover, audience is everything because they are the one who will judge and evaluate whether the play is worthy to watch or not. Therefore, all of the elements are important before we do a performance.

presentation of theatre

The presentation about traditional theatre is a good knowledge and information to improve and broadened my mind about the theatre. Specifically, Greek and Roman theatre is a good exposure to make we have more ideas about the theatre. Besides that, through this presentation, I am more knowledgeable and can get through this course till the end. I also can tell the differences between Greek and Roman theatre. In both of the theatre, there are many differences compare to the modern theatre that we have now in terms of the settings and costumes. People in the past, used settings of their era for every plays and same goes to the modern theatre.

My short story post-mortem

In the first class of this semester, the lecturer gave us the survey to test our memory about the last semester’s subject; which is ‘Teaching the language of short stories’. This survey is good for our memory about the past. Frankly speaking, when we left for semester break we will tend to forget everything that we have learned. It is also one of the ways to open the right schemata for the new lesson. Therefore, this activity is really beneficial to us to integrate and refresh the knowledge that we have in our long term memory.
